Wesleyan Beekeepers is dedicated to learning the art of beekeeping and raising awareness about the plight of the bees. No matter bee-experience or bee-history, we seek passionate students and community members to learn and teach with us.
This project is one that will be ongoing and processual! We are learning through experience and through using our hands and combining our brains. Though we have suffered colony loss, we are moving on and focusing on expanding in other fruitful ways.
MISTAKES & LESSONS LEARNED
Beekeeping is beautiful and precarious. Losing our hives was heartbreaking and now as we move on we must consider our role as beekeepers in helping to sustain these resiliently fragile beings.
We plan to harvest honey soon and build hives for future bees! Our hope is to continue to grow bigger on campus and in the greater Wesleyan and Middletown community and begin to tap into the existing networks of beekeepers and environmental advocates around us.
