Waste Not! is Wesleyan's annual tag-sale. We operate twice: in the spring and in the fall. In the spring, we collect donations from students as they are moving out. We sell these donations in the fall.
Waste Not! strives to reduce waste on campus, primarily by reducing the amount of stuff people bring. We begin advertising the sale during mid-summer, when students are beginning to do shopping for the upcoming year. By reducing what students bring (like cardboard, paper, etc.), we reduce the school's carbon footprint.
Waste Not! is run by the Wesleyan University Office of Sustainability. The two Interns work to organize storage, recruit volunteers, coordinate with Residential Life and Public Safety to ensure chaos on move-out days are at a minimum, and prepare for the sale in the fall.
Waste Not! grows every year it's held; it's become a tradition on campus for incoming freshmen to attend the sale. Hopefully, Waste Not! can continue to grow and achieve the success it has in the past!
