In an effort to reduce carbon emissions from animal products, our dining hall rolled out a Meatless Monday program that was 3 sessions long of dinner with information and discussions.
Meatless Monday opened up many students to the environmental impact animal products and meat production has on the environment. About 30 students attended the sessions which was a great start for the first year of this program.
The dining hall worked with students to put the program on. Students then advertised the events at club meetings and through Facebook invitations.
MISTAKES & LESSONS LEARNED
More advertising in and out of the dining hall would really help promote this program more because a large portion of our student population is still unaware of this option.
Continued work between the dining hall and student population will help advance sustainability greatly on our campus. We hope to reinstate this program again to continue educating students and raising awareness of the environmental impact food has.
