SUMMARY

Using Campus Green Initiative Fund money we are in the process of building and planting a brand new campus garden for students to use.

IMPACT

Students will be able to plant and grow food crops for themselves and others in our beautiful, new garden. This will allow them to sustainably produce their own food and enjoy the outdoors.

PROCEDURE

The campus garden went through many stages of approval. Since Campus Green Initiative Fund money was used for it, the grant procedures for that had to be followed. Next, Space Allocations had approve the site location and Grounds had to help run water lines out to the site. Once this was complete, a deer fence was installed and volunteers met to help build the raised beds. We hope to be able to plant for this fall's growing season.

MISTAKES & LESSONS LEARNED

Writing a proposal grant can be very complex and a lot of work. Since so many materials and quotes were required for the proposal it took a lot longer to complete than expected. Having more students involved would have distributed the work load and maybe sped things up.

FUTURE PLANS

Plant the garden and grow lot of great food items. Also, to raise awareness of this awesome feature so students will take advantage of it for years to come.
