SUMMARY

Tied to ID cards, students can check out up to two of these reusable plastic to-go boxes at a time. They can return them to dining services at several locations on campus to be cleaned and redistributed.



IMPACT

By implementing this program, we were able to eliminate the styrofoam to-go boxes previously used at Dining Services, which both created significant amounts of waste and were an eye-sore when piled high on top of garbage cans around campus.



MISTAKES & LESSONS LEARNED

There is no incentive or punishment in place to ensure that the boxes are brought back by the end of the semester, so dining services has had purchase entire new sets because students will throw away or keep the reusable boxes.



FUTURE PLANS

Over the next year, we plan to educate the student body about the boxes to promote return of the boxes and develop an incentive or punishment system to ensure their return.
